Adjustments 03.25.08

Beyond Light Bulbs, Eyebeam, FEEDBACK Exhibition, Prototyping, Revolution Door — Jennifer on April 3, 2008 at 3:39 pm

We added the donated, reclaimed panels from 3form.  They look really beautiful.  In the near future we will install all four door panels, but for now it is just two.  We also made some adjustments to the mechanism, since the large sprocket was slipping from the central shaft.

Beyond Light Bulbs, Eyebeam, FEEDBACK Exhibition, Prototyping, Revolution Door — Jennifer on March 10, 2008 at 1:26 pm

Among a few different parts that we were preparing this week, here are some images of the magnet rotor being attached onto the door jig with the sprockets.

Here the magnet rotor is in place and we are turning the door to light up an array of LED’s that are powered by the alternator.  The coil stator needs to be made to accompany the magnet rotor in order to produce its own energy.  More on that to come…

Beyond Light Bulbs, FEEDBACK Exhibition, Prototyping, Revolution Door — Jennifer on February 25, 2008 at 1:05 pm

We moved the Revolution Door jig this weekend back to Eyebeam so that we could work on it for the exhibition in March.  We then began testing the coils for the stator, which was a bit more troublesome than planned.

Beyond Light Bulbs, Eyebeam, FEEDBACK Exhibition — Jennifer on January 25, 2008 at 11:43 am

Here are some images from the FEEDBACK Preview exhibition at Eyebeam.  Fluxxlab helped design the exhibition and signage for this show that is a sneak peek for the full exhibition FEEDBACK from March 13 - April 26, 2008.  Fluxxlab will also be assiting on the design for this exhibition as well as displaying a new and improved version of the Revolution Door prototype with the Beyond Lightbulbs entrance lighting display.  More to come on that…

Beyond Light Bulbs, Eyebeam, FEEDBACK Exhibition, Revolution Door — Fluxxlab on December 10, 2007 at 8:31 pm

This week we worked on and completed the rotor (minus the hub). Here you can see the progress of the work.

Drilling holes into the frame and attaching with screws and epoxy the 48 iron plates that hold the magnets to the frame.

The jig that we used to place the magnets on the rotor (trying not to get hurt!)
