selfSound System
(SSS)
The selfSound system is a portable device that uses a hand crank generator to turn mechanical energy into electrical energy for immediate use in powering a “hacked” recording/playback device with a small mic and speaker. The selfSound system was designed for a student program called Digital Day Camp (DDC) at Eyebeam with Mouna Andraos and Adam Bobbette in July, 2007. The task was for each group of students to create their own selfSound system and determine how it could be publicly utilized as a communication device.
